Leuschen Hamley style Saddle. Specs include: Modified Association (stood up straight), 14 1/2″ seat, 4″ cantle, #6 horn, Regular round shaped skirts, in skirt rigging, Cheyenne roll cantle binding, vintage-style large floral carving like you would see in old Hamley, Porter, or Visalia saddles.
This saddle was custom made for a lady who had many saddles ( ours included) with the “Sheridan style” of carving, and just wanted something different—in tooling and color. She decided that she would like a larger tooling pattern, so we incorporated various flowers in a larger and more open pattern—again, similar to the old style Hamley, Porter, or Visalia saddles. She is a very small lady, and building her saddle posed an interesting challenge to make her saddle not appear like a kid’s saddle, but a small adult’s saddle. Each saddle part had to be individually scaled for the tree as well as her frame and build
It is sometimes fun, and yet challenging, to get out of our comfort zone, and do something unexpected and creative; and that’s what happened on this project.
